Wildfires Force Evacuations in Napa, Sonoma


California Gov. Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency on Monday, Oct. 9, as multiple wildfires quickly spread across Sonoma and Napa counties, burning tens of thousands of acres. The Los Angeles Times reported that “a large swath of [Santa Rosa] north of downtown” was currently under evacuation order.

The state of emergency declaration included Napa, Sonoma and Yuba counties. On Monday, one wildfire, referred to as "Tubbs Fire,” jumped the 101 Freeway around northern Santa Rosa, closing hospitals and burning homes and businesses. The Fountaingrove Inn and Hilton Sonoma Wine Country were both “burned” by wildfire.
