TCF Center
From outdoor meeting spaces to neighborhood harvests, Detroit is quite the green city. TCF Center is a Green Meetings Industry Council ASTM/APEX Standard Certified facility and home to a 10,000 square-foot living green roof that provides natural habitat for birds and insects while helping to cool and heat the building.
The organic herb garden and four honeybee hives provide fresh produce and delicious honey for the TCF Center culinary team. The honey also makes a sweet gift for the TCF Green Committee to offer during sustainability events throughout the year. In fact, TCF Center’s commitment to environmental sustainability is their driving force to achieving and maintaining an LEED Gold status.
EastEats
EastEats is a different kind of communal dining, made entirely of geodesic domes and featuring a fresh, pop-up dining experience with a street food menu created by up-and-coming chefs of color. It occupies a side lot in the city, making it not only a uniquely Detroit dining experience, but an alternative land use experiment as well.
Avenue of Fashion
The historic Avenue of Fashion is one of the oldest and largest shopping districts of Black-owned businesses in the country, with specialty boutiques, galleries and studios, and delicious eats including Kuzzo’s Chicken & Waffles.
It’s also home to Baker’s Keyboard Lounge, one of the world’s oldest jazz clubs. Some of the greatest entertainers of the past have gathered and played around its iconic keyboard bar including Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday and Cab Calloway.

Monroe Street Midway
Detroit knows how to paint the town—literally.
The colorful Monroe Midway is a hub of outdoor recreation, beginning with colorful art installations throughout by four of Detroit’s most prominent artists. The featured creators designed unique wall murals and the floors of each outdoor sports court.
Get rolling on the outdoor roller rink operated by RollerCade, the oldest black-owned roller rink in the city and one of the first in the country. Fuel up at the rotating food and beverage trucks.
