The Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki completed a $4.25 million restoration project of the hotel’s celebrated rainbow mural. First created in 1968, the mural covers both sides of the property’s rainbow tower and is made of more than 31,000 hand-painted ceramic tiles.
The restoration began in fall 2013 and required the removal of the existing tiles and careful replication. Both sides of the mural measure approximately 286 feet high and 26 feet wide.
The 1,240-room Hilton resort offers 150,000 square feet of meeting space, including three distinct conference centers and a number of outdoor venues.
