Las Vegas has always seemed to gleam like a beacon in the desert, and nowadays is no exception.
Frequent contributor Jeff Heilman, penning his third consecutive Meetings Focus Las Vegas supplement, packs the 2015 edition with shining examples, including plenty of great business stats and development info for planners, and stories profiling everything from massive festivals to the rebirth of vintage Vegas to the ever-eclectic dining scene.
In our lead story, “All Bets Are On,” Heilman covers the ongoing rise in meetings, conventions and incentives business, as well as overall visitor arrivals, with input from top officials on continued growth and some of the destination’s most impressive new offerings. In addition, a sidebar sheds light on intriguing wellness programs throughout town.
Giant music festivals and other huge get-togethers are a major aspect of the new side of Vegas. “Exceptionally Eventful” gives planners the scoop on the biggies, including Rock in Rio, Life Is Beautiful Festival and Electric Daisy Carnival, and how the destination’s developing infrastructure is making it a premier “special events city” for both trendy music gatherings and major sports events.
Head to the “Delectably Diverse” section for a taste of Nevada’s hottest culinary trends, including inventive establishments from celebrity chefs such as Jose Andres, Kerry Simon and Johnny Hernandez, as well as ultra-cool bars headed by master mixologists.
Other sections profile the vintage finds that are preserving old-school Las Vegas, from the Neon Museum to the Mob Museum and then some, in addition to the dazzling shows gracing the stages in town and the multitude of group options in the surrounding areas, such as Laughlin, Mesquite and Primm.
Be sure to check out the digital edition of this year’s supplement for a slideshow that takes a look at Vegas of yesteryear treasures.
