The Goodwin Hotel reopened in Hartford after being vacant for nearly a decade. Originally built as an apartment building in the 1880s, it was converted to a hotel a century later. The original ornate facade of the building still remains. The newly revitalized hotel features 124 guest rooms, over 5,000 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center, a bar and lounge area and Harlan Brasserie, an 80-seat bistro-inspired food and beverage outlet.
The Ames Boston Hotel, a member of the Curio Collection by Hilton and part of the Gemstone Collection by Benchmark, completed a renovation project. The updates preserved many original features, including the lobby’s tiled mosaic arched ceiling and a marble staircase that runs from the first floor to the roof. The 114-room hotel now features an updated lobby, meeting rooms, Cultivar restaurant and public spaces. The renovated lobby features check-in stations, and adjacent to the revamped entryway is The Library, which serves as a communal workspace for guests. With the completion of the Ames and Oliver & Oakes meeting rooms and the prefunction area, all located on the second floor, the hotel now offers 1,700 square feet of new private event space. The rooms can serve as spaces for groups of up to 125 people.
YOTEL opened its second U.S. location in Boston’s Seaport District. YOTEL Boston features 326 guest rooms, social spaces as well as Sky Lounge, an indoor/outdoor rooftop bar and terrace. Inspired by first-class airline travel, the hotel’s lobby—Mission Control— features check-in with airline-style self-service kiosks or the ability to use the YOTEL app for keyless cabin entry. Located on the ground floor, Club Lounge is a space offering all-day dining and a to-go menu. Sky Lounge is on the 12th floor and the indoor lounge opens to a rooftop terrace with city views and can be used for private events. There are also additional spaces for smaller events and meetings, including four private Sky Cabins on the rooftop and two meeting rooms off the Club Lounge.
The DoubleTree by Hilton Syracuse unveiled its multimillion-dollar renovation. The project included the 250 guest rooms, public areas and event spaces. The addition of a grand fireplace surrounded by seating serves as the focal point of the redesigned lobby. The property also added a new restaurant concept, Seasons Tavern, and relocated the hotel bar. The hotel offers more than 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space and the renovations included a 3,000-square-foot expansion to the hotel’s front ballroom, taking it from 1,500 square feet to 4,500 square feet, as well as building out a 1,500-square-foot patio that can be used for outdoor events.
The Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh Airport opened in June adjacent to Pittsburgh International Airport. The new hotel has 139 guest rooms, including nine suites and 2,600 square feet of meeting space. The hotel offers complimentary airport shuttle service, a 24-hour business center, an indoor pool, a fitness center and an outdoor patio. Garden Grille is the hotel’s restaurant and its Pavilion Lounge features a signature beer created for the property by North Country Brewing Company.
The Cambria Hotel & Suites Newport opened with 143 guest rooms and 25,000 square feet of meeting space. The property offers waterfront views and is located near Easton’s Beach, the iconic Newport mansions and Naval Station Newport, with a complimentary shuttle to and from downtown Newport. There are six meeting rooms, from 300 square feet to over 8,000 square, feet that can accommodate up to 900 guests.
