The Hilo Naniloa Hotel reopened as the Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo–a DoubleTree by Hilton following a $30 million renovation that included all 320 guest rooms, meeting spaces and public areas. The property, which features panoramic views of Hilo Bay and a live-music venue, continues to be managed by Aqua-Aston Hospitality.
The south tower of the Marriott Waikoloa Beach Resort & Spa was converted into the all-suite Marriott’s Waikoloa Ocean Club, which offers one- and two-bedroom units with kitchenettes overlooking Anaehoomalu Bay. A renovation of the 295-room north tower and public areas at the resort was also recently completed.
The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel debuted new meeting space that includes a boardroom and the 3,450-square-foot Kaunaoa Ballroom with an adjoining terrace overlooking the Pacific. Manta, the resort’s ocean-view restaurant, recently reopened following an extensive renovation.
Under a new franchise agreement with Westin Hotels & Resorts, the Hapuna Prince Hotel will become the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort early next year. The name change will coincide with the completion of a $46 million renovation that includes a guest room makeover, redesigned lobby and new dining concepts and pool area. The property will remain part of Prince Hotels Hawaii.
The Honu Bar debuted at Mauna Lani Bay & Bungalows. Overlooking a turtle pond, the bar serves handcrafted cocktails, desserts and small-plate items, and also features nightly live music.
