Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort in Phoenix recently completed an $8.5 million renovation. The project included updates to its 224 North Pointe Suites, North Pointe lobby and 48,000 square feet of meeting space. A total of 30 meeting rooms, including three ballrooms, were renovated with new textured wall vinyl, revamped ceilings and crystal chandeliers. The renovation, which celebrates the resort’s 40th anniversary, was inspired by the surrounding landscape and is defined by a modern and minimal design that incorporates desert elements and a neutral palette with splashes of color. 


Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula will unveil the last phase of its two-year, $285 million property expansion this month: The Summit event center, which doubled its function space for meetings, events and concerts. The venue has 40,000 square feet of divisible space, as well as pre-function space, 15 breakout rooms and cultural installations. The expansion also included the addition of a AAA Four Diamond, 568-unit hotel wing; a stand-alone luxury two-story spa; a 4.5-acre resort-style pool complex; and two new restaurants. The resort now has a total of 100,000 square feet of indoor event space and 174,500 square feet of outdoor event space, along with 1,090 guest units.  

The landmark Santa Barbara hotel founded in 1986 by Fess Parker, the actor best known for his television portrayals of Davy Crockett in the 1950s and Daniel Boone in the 1960s, began a property-wide renovation in October. Upon completion of the two-phase project in the second quarter of 2018, The Fess Parker, A Doubletree by Hilton Resort will be rebranded as the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort and remain managed by Hilton and jointly owned by Park Hotels and Resorts along with Fess Parker’s children. Phase one includes the refurbishment of the guest rooms, lobby, Roundhouse Restaurant and coffee bar. As guest rooms are renovated, the rest of the resort’s lodging options will remain open. Phase two will begin in January and encompass the renovation of the resort’s function space, including two ballrooms, foyers and meeting rooms.  

AC Hotel San Francisco Airport/Oyster Point Waterfront recently debuted as the first property to be built in South San Francisco in 15 years. Making bold exterior and interior design statements, the modern, European-inspired property features 187 guest rooms and more than 8,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space. Its five meeting rooms boast expansive views of the San Francisco Bay and are equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi and wireless Kallpod on-demand service buttons to immediately request a staff members’ attention.  


Park City Mountain opened for the season in mid-November, debuting several new offerings, including a property renovation, a complimentary historic mining tour on skis and special events. Topping the list, the Grand Summit Hotel at Canyons Village just finished a $15 million renovation and was branded as a RockResorts property. The renovation included a complete overhaul of all 212 suites, which received new interior finishes, furnishings, soft goods, appliances, artwork and technology. The property’s meeting spaces were also refreshed, and communal spaces were revamped, including the lobby and front desk, the on-site spa, the cafe and the general store.
