Comete-Schonemann has nearly 15 years of industry experience, 12 of which were spent working in luxury resorts and urban properties. Her background includes major hospitality brands such as W, The Phoenician, and St. Regis.

In 2006, Comete-Schonemann started her sales career at the W Montreal, and two years later she transferred to the W Scottsdale where she was part of the pre-opening team. After making a name in the Scottsdale market, she then moved on as the group account director for The Phoenician.

Most recently, Comete-Schonemann held the role of group account director at The St. Regis in Princeville, Hawaii. It was here that she was responsible for the Midwest market, as well as Canada.

“There are great things happening in Charleston and at Belmond Charleston Place. Michele’s diverse experience in the industry is a great addition to our team,” said Charlie Wellman, director of sales.

A Canadian native, whose first language is French, Comete-Schonemann earned her bachelor degree in leisure studies from Université du Québec á Trois-Rivières with a focus on leisure, culture, and tourism.

The Belmond Charleston Place evokes the feeling of a grand, 17th century residence, from its lush personal suites to the Italian marble lobby with its signature Georgian Open Arm staircase and 12-foot crystal chandelier. Guests can enjoy the hotel’s award-winning restaurants, full service spa and salon, and horizon-edge swimming pool with retractable glass roof. There is over 40,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 14,000-square-foot ballroom with 16-foot ceilings and recessed chandeliers. The hotel is centrally located in Charleston’s historic district, surrounded by antebellum architecture, and is within walking distance of downtown’s many boutiques, galleries and restaurants.
