El San Juan Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton will reopen its doors in October 2018, following its closure in September 2017 due to the impact of Hurricane Maria.

Managed and operated by Two Roads Hospitality, the hotel is undergoing a restoration of its 388 guest rooms, public spaces, pools, 40,000 square feet of meeting space and outdoor landscaping.

“Both rich in history and effortlessly stylish, the hotel has served as the beating heart of the island since it debuted in 1958 and we’re thrilled to reopen with a rejuvenated look, incomparable amenities and authentic, Puerto Rican hospitality,” said Craig Waterman, vice president of openings & transitions, Two Roads Hospitality.

The reopening will feature various restored areas of the property, including the hand-carved mahogany that covers the lobby ceilings as well as the hotel’s columns and vaulted arch over the registration area.

Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort, part of the Wyndham Grand brand, will also reopen following its closure after Hurricane Maria. The resort announced an official relaunch date of March 1, 2018.

The oceanfront resort will reveal a multimillion-dollar renovation, including the lobby lounge. In addition, $1 of every room night booked by all guests for March and April will be donated to the El Yunque Rainforest Restoration Fund, as part of the resort’s commitment to the island’s recovery.

“It is the dawn of a new day for Puerto Rico, and we are eager to welcome travelers back to our newly renovated resort to celebrate this beautiful island,” said Nils Stolzlechner, general manager of the resort. "During the last few months, I’ve witnessed the resiliency of our staff and community, and am incredibly grateful and proud that together we have restored this region back into an incredible travel destination.”

The property is set on 500 acres along a mile-long section of beach adjacent to the El Yunque National Rainforest and the Mameyes River. The resort features a 48,000-square-foot oceanfront conference center, a casino, two 18-hole golf courses, a spa and fitness center, as well as lounges and entertainment venues.
