Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants appointed Todd Ryan as regional director of sales and marketing for the group’s 16 Mid-Atlantic area hotels.

A seasoned hospitality veteran and strong leader, Ryan brings more than 20 years of hotel and resort sales experience to Kimpton’s Mid-Atlantic regional leadership team.

In his new role, Ryan provides direction to all regional strategies as well as sales and catering staff for 16 hotels in Kimpton’s east coast portfolio, including ten hotels in Washington, D.C., and one hotel each in Alexandria, Va.; Baltimore, Md.; Charlotte and Winston-Salem, N.C.; Savannah, Ga; and Nashville, Tenn.

Kimpton’s Mid-Atlantic portfolio has the highest concentration of properties in any U.S. region with over 2,700 guest rooms and nearly 81,000 square feet of meeting and event space across the 16 hotels, and the brand continues to expand and evolve in these markets.

As a regional director, Ryan will drive sales, catering and marketing activities for all segments across the Mid-Atlantic, leading the hotel and area dedicated sales teams with an emphasis on maximizing operating revenue and sales production, as well as providing counsel on digital marketing, advertising and public relations efforts for the region.

Ryan is based at the Kimpton George Hotel, where he also serves as the head of the dedicated city sales team for Washington, D.C., overseeing citywide sales efforts for the entertainment, sports, international, association and convention business segments.

Prior to this position, Ryan was area director of sales and marketing in eastern Canada for Starwood Hotels & Resorts where he oversaw sales efforts and teams for seven hotels throughout region. Additionally, Ryan previously served as area director for New York and New Jersey, as well a director in Phoenix and San Antonio with Starwood consistently outperforming revenue targets while providing strategic direction.

While with Starwood, Ryan’s actions at the helm of two sales teams earned the top honor of Sales Team of the Year on multiple occasions, one of which came after shattering the previous record for pre-opening sales at Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel, where his team surpassed the entire sales goal six months before even opening the hotel. Ryan brings a coaching culturing to his teams, and he plans to provide a similar atmosphere at Kimpton.
