  • White Lodging recently opened the Courtyard by Marriott and the Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Phoenix/Chandler Fashion Center. The dual property is the first combination hotel of its kind in the Greater Phoenix Area. The two-in-one hotel is joined together by facilities including a fitness center, business centers and meeting rooms, among other options. Each hotel has a separate covered entrance located on a common plaza and the complex is located within the Chandler Centerpoint Business Center. Courtyard offers 130 guest rooms each with a 32-inch flat-screen television, and the hotel features complimentary wireless high-speed Internet throughout the property. There are three meeting rooms with a total 1,200 square feet of meeting space. The Fairfield offers 110 guest rooms and two meeting rooms for a combined 1,572 square feet of meeting space.   • The Fairmont Pacific Rim, located opposite the new West building of the Vancouver Convention Centre, will officially open in January 2010 with 400 guest rooms. The hotel will offer 15,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, three ballrooms that can accommodate up to 400 people, two boardrooms, three meeting rooms and a multimedia theater. California

  • The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina in San Diego recently completed a $1 million renovation of 20,000 square feet of meeting space. The resort introduced its new Regatta Pavilion, and the property’s Bayview Ballroom and Penthouse reopened after an extensive makeover. The 10,000-square-foot Regatta Pavilion accommodates about 750 guests for a banquet and 900 for a reception. In addition to multiple windows, sections of the pavilion can be uncovered to take advantage of the views of Mission Bay. The renovated Bayview Ballroom can accommodate 500 for a banquet and 650 for a reception. Among other amenities, the 6,132-square-foot venue features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Mission Bay. The 3,200-square-foot Penthouse, situated on the 18th floor, also received upgrades. The space, which can serve as a hospitality suite or a reception venue for up to 50 people, offers views of Mission Bay, the Pacific Ocean and downtown San Diego.   • Sycuan Resort, a golf resort located in the Dehesa Valley of El Cajon, near San Diego, is slated to complete a $2.7 million renovation on its 100 guest rooms by the end of the year. Each room on the Sycuan Resort property, which spans 425 acres, has a golf course view, and is only a five-minute complimentary shuttle ride to the Sycuan Casino where guests can enjoy gaming action, fine dining and live entertainment.   • The Spa at ARIA is slated to open in December in the CityCenter complex as part of ARIA Resort & Casino, and will be exclusively available to guests of CityCenter’s hotels. The two-level spa will feature 62 treatment rooms, a full-service salon, a fitness center, boutique, poolside spa cabanas and Las Vegas’ first co-ed spa balcony, featuring an outdoor therapy pool.
