Renovations at the Spokane Convention Center, Hotel Rio Yucatana and Beverly Hills Hotel

California
The Hyatt Regency Newport Beach Hotel and Resort completed an extensive $15 million renovation. The lobby, pools, restaurants and all 407 guest rooms were updated. The property offers more than 26,000 square feet of function space.

La Casa Del Zorro is slated to reopen in Borrego Springs this fall. Named for the romantic Spanish hero who fought for justice, the historic 63-suite property in the desert makes for secluded corporate retreats, with easy access to golf and hiking. Next to the resort is Happy Days, a residence formerly owned by David Copley that can accommodate receptions of up to 150 people.

The Beverly Hills Hotel reopened its 73-year-old Polo Lounge dining space after a two-month redesign. The lounge serves three meals a day, plus afternoon tea and a Sunday jazz brunch. As part of the ongoing renovation, the hotel’s rooms and suites will be upgraded by summer 2014. The hotel offers an assortment of ballrooms and meeting spaces, catering to high-profile executives seeking privacy.

Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel competed a $4.5 million exterior renovation, adding new guest room balconies and enhancing views of the Pacific Ocean. Future updates will include new poolside cabanas and beach-level guest rooms with patios and fire pits. The hotel offers 342 guest rooms and 17,000 square feet of function space.

The Lake Tahoe region’s Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows announced $8 million in improvements that will be ready for the 2013-14 winter season. The resorts are in the midst of a five-year, $70 million upgrade project, with the Village at Square Valley recently completing room renovations.

Colorado
White Lodging plans to construct a dual-branded Hyatt Place/Hyatt House in Denver. Plans for the 21-story building include 346 units and an anticipated completion date in spring 2015.

Mexico
The 507-room Hotel Riu Yucatan is scheduled to complete its $15 million renovation this month. The all-inclusive Riviera Maya property offers 10,591 square feet of meeting space and incentive options.

Utah
Salt Lake City’s convention district will see the addition of two new lodging options, following the announcement of plans to build a 159-room Hyatt Place and a 175-room Courtyard by Marriott near the Salt Palace Convention Center and EnergySolutions Arena downtown.

Washington
A firm was selected to complete the expansion of the Spokane Convention Center. The $50 million project is expected to be finished by the end of 2014. The addition will add 20,000 square feet of event and exhibit space in addition to improving the nearby Centennial Trail along the Spokane River. With 23 meeting rooms and more than 100,000 square feet of exhibit space, the convention center is located adjacent to the 100-acre Riverfront Park.
