Boston's Highly Anticipated Raffles Hotel and More Eastern Property News

The newly reimagined upscale resort, Ashore Resort & Beach Club in Ocean City, reopened following a property-wide renovation this spring. Set on a beachfront location along Maryland’s coastline, the resort offers panoramic views of the Atlantic and the tranquil Assawoman Bay.

The 250-room property previously known as the Ocean City Fontainebleau Resort boasts new guest rooms designed with modern decor, calming earth tones and plush bedding, with many featuring private balconies overlooking the beach. Five brand-new food and beverage concepts were introduced, including destination restaurant Tide Room, serving elevated American fare and fresh seafood made famous on the East Coast.  

The hotel’s newly repositioned 3,000-square-foot deck and event space, The Shore Deck, overlooks the Dunes of Ocean City and Atlantic Ocean and serves small bites and beverages. Resort guests have access to beach umbrellas and lounge chairs, Adirondack chairs around fire pits and a fitness center, and 16 award-winning golf courses are within 10 miles of the property.  

Ashore Resort & Beach Club offers 14 meeting rooms and 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, including a 7,500-square-foot Ballroom, with the capacity to host up to 1,000 guests, and the Beachside Pavilion, ideal for private beach gatherings and teambuilding events.

Four Seasons Hotel Boston reopened its doors following an extensive renovation updating the design of its arrival area, lobby and porte-cochère. The transformation of Four Seasons Hotel Boston, one that has been years in the making, blends the timeless aspects of the hotel with its public garden setting, drawing design inspiration from its surroundings, such as the elegant homes of Beacon Hill and Back Bay.  

With the goal of providing a space where old meets new, Four Seasons Hotel Boston welcomes guests with a black-and-white-tiled entry court leading to the new lobby, where they can check into one of the property’s 273 guest rooms at a new front desk crafted in tooled leather and view an Impressionist-style mural depicting the Public Garden.

On the lobby level, guests can enjoy one of the hotel’s newest spaces, Coterie, a lounge and restaurant open daily for lunch, dinner and bar service located opposite the Library, a quiet space featuring rich velvet seating for guests to sit amongst bookshelves curated to evoke a literature collection gathered by a family through generations.  

Groups can meet within one of Four Seasons Hotel Boston’s 16 unique event venues totaling 25,350 square feet of space. The second-floor Ballroom, measuring 3,710 square feet, can accommodate up to 500 for a standing reception or 360 seated, and groups can gather in the 1,625-square-foot Foyer for breakouts and prefunction events. Meeting rooms on the hotel’s fifth floor include the 625-square-foot Benjamin Room, which can host 60 standing or 48 seated.

The highly anticipated Raffles Boston, which was originally announced in 2018 and scheduled to open its doors in 2021 but faced pandemic-related setbacks, is preparing to open its doors at 40 Trinity Place this summer. The property is the first ultra-luxury Raffles hotel in North America and part of the Accor portfolio. 

The 35-story building sits at the corner of Trinity Place and Stuart Street in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood and will offer 147 hotel rooms with views of the Charles River, Back Bay skyline and Boston harbor. 

Hotel guests will have access to amenities such as the Raffles Bar; public spaces including a three-story sky lobby perched above Copley Square; five restaurants, including a sky bar and speakeasy; a fitness center; a state-of-the-art spa with a 65-foot indoor lap pool; and more communal spaces.  

The hotel’s 17th, 18th and 19th floors will be connected via a grand spiral staircase to create a three-story atrium space adorned with hanging plants and window-box greenery representing the natural surroundings of the Back Bay neighborhood. 

Raffles Boston will feature approximately 5,000 square feet of meeting space, located entirely on the 18th and 19th floors just above the hotel's Sky Lobby, including a 19th floor Raffles Main Ballroom with views of the Charles River.

Rhode Island 

The Pell, part of the JdV by Hyatt brand, opened its doors on Rhode Island’s historic Aquidneck Island, minutes from Newport. The boutique hotel is the result of a $9 million renovation project and is housed in a building dating back to 1989. Managed by Highgate, The Pell’s modern bohemian design is reflective of the coastal neighborhood in which it’s located, less than two miles from Sachuest Beach, Third Beach and Easton’s Beach in Newport.

The 127-room property puts guests within three miles of the historic Newport Mansions and Cliff Walk, and even closer to Newport Vineyards, and offers an onsite library and full-service restaurant The Helmway, serving breakfast and dinner with tables and bar seating.  

The Pell offers one customizable, 1,250-square-foot meeting and event space, featuring decor reflective of the hotel’s bohemian design, the latest audiovisual equipment and space for up to 40 guests.
