Seattle Convention Center President and CEO Jeffrey Blosser to Retire in May

Seattle Convention Center (SCC) President and CEO Jeffrey “Jeff” Blosser announced he will retire in May after serving over 12 years in the role. The SCC Board of Directors said in a press release they are exploring options for the future structure and management of the organization and will also conduct a nationwide search to identify candidates to fill Blosser’s role as CEO.

“It has been my honor and pleasure to have been entrusted with the leadership of the Washington State Convention Center Public Facilities District, more commonly known as the Seattle Convention Center,” Blosser wrote in a press release. “Serving as president of this fantastic organization in the Pacific Northwest is a wonderful way to wrap up my 45-year career in the venue management industry. Now that the Summit building is open and showing all signs of fulfilling its purpose of bringing a steady flow of event business to the city, the timing is right for me to pass the baton.”

Blosser began his career in Louisville, Kentucky, and held several positions at two of its state-owned convention facilities over 10 years. Before coming to Seattle, Blosser served as the executive director of the Oregon Convention Center for 22 years, where he provided strategic direction for the organization and expansion of that state’s largest convention facility.

Blosser’s many accomplishments as CEO and during his 45 years in the industry include guiding the SCC’s operations through the COVID-19 pandemic, launching the new Summit building, serving in leadership positions on multiple industry boards, and being presented a Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Venue Managers.

“The Center has been exceptionally fortunate to have had Jeff’s leadership and knowledge during these years of significant growth,” said SCC Board Chair Frank Finneran. “His contributions to the promotion and development of the District facilities and operations have been invaluable.”
