Terramar DMC, a global destination management company with a large presence in Mexico, announced the sudden passing of Managing Director Lee Chipman, who spent a decade with the DMC as well as nearly three decades with Hilton.
“Lee wasn’t just a leader at Terramar—he was the heart of our culture,” said Sunny Irvine, owner of Terramar DMC, in a statement announcing Chipman’s death. “His passion for the industry, his unwavering integrity and the joy he brought to every room were unmatched. I’ve lost not only a colleague but a dear friend. His impact on Terramar, on me personally and on our entire industry will be felt for years to come.”
Chipman is remembered not only for his work for the DMC in Mexico, Panama, the U.S. and beyond, but also for being a mentor that shaped the careers of many in the industry.
According to Terramar, Lisa DeLeon and Matt Cuevas will guide operational matters in the interim.
Terramar released the following statement in announcing Chipman’s passing: “His work, mentorship and friendship shaped careers and enriched lives. He will be remembered for his deep kindness, boundless generosity and the rare ability to lead with both strength and heart.”
