Visit Duluth announced Haley Hedstrom will take over as the new executive director of the DMO effective August 25.
Hedstrom will lead the organization’s efforts to grow leisure tourism, meetings and conventions and business travel to the northeastern Minnesota port city while also overseeing the strategic direction, culture and operations of Visit Duluth.
Hedstrom comes to the Visit Duluth team from the Lake Superior Zoo, where she served as the director of marketing and executive director, helped lead the zoo’s daily operations and grew annual visitation by more than 30% since 2020.
“Duluth is one of the Midwest’s top destination cities, rich in history, full of character and surrounded by some of the best outdoor landscapes and recreation opportunities in the country,” Hedstrom said in a press release announcing her appointment. “I’m truly honored to step into this role. I look forward to working closely with the team, our partners and the community to build on the momentum here and help more people experience everything that makes Duluth special.”
