The Confidante Miami Beach Unveils New Meeting Space

MIAMI BEACH

The Confidante Miami Beach, located in the city’s popular mid-beach neighborhood, unveiled a full transformation to its marquee meetings and events space with the debut of the new Carmen Miranda Ballroom.

The new ballroom brings the hotel’s mid-century modern design to life in a 4,639-square-foot space inclusive of a prefunction area, expansive indoor ballroom with two divisible seating sections, a dedicated stairwell to the property’s two heated pools and colorful poolside cabanas and bungalows, and private wrap-around terrace with views of the hotel’s pools, tropical landscape and Atlantic Ocean.

The $5.5 million renovation comes fresh off the heels of a $3.5 million revamp to the hotel’s second-floor meeting and event space in October 2017. The new Carmen Miranda ballroom is available for bookings starting January 1, 2019.

Highlights of the new ballroom space include advanced technology features, customizable lighting and A/V options, and design enhancements that combine sentiments of Miami Beach’s golden era with modern elements.

The Carmen Miranda Ballroom is named after the dynamic Portuguese-born Brazilian singer, samba dancer and film star, who rose to international fame in the 1930s. Through its design and style, the space pays homage to the iconic performer who encapsulates Miami’s vivacious personality, as well as the hotel’s vintage-glam roots dating back to the 1940s.

“We’re thrilled to unveil the new Carmen Miranda Ballroom, showcasing the hotel’s mid-century modern design and our commitment to executing flawless events with unique style,” said Keith Butz, general manager of The Confidante Miami Beach. “We know that guests love coming to Miami for its beautiful weather and famous beach, and we wanted to create a tremendous venue that’s just as captivating for corporate groups, weddings and gatherings of all kinds.”

Carmen Miranda Ballroom guests arrive at a sleek prefunction area featuring mid-century modern décor with peach, pink and green palm print wall designs and decorative Terrazzo flooring. The space includes induction cooktops for seamless, convenient catering and is equipped with retractable ceiling hooks to hang custom backdrops or signage for photo opportunities before the main ballroom event.

The 2,300-square-foot ballroom features two sections with an air wall, and combined with the terrace, may accommodate a total of 330 guests. Floor-to-ceiling windows, natural light and beachfront views offer a spacious setting that clients may customize to their liking. A ceiling alcove LED lighting system offers the option to customize room lighting with 25 options that may be altered throughout the occasion. The ballroom’s sound system is outfitted with JBL professional speakers ensures guests are engaged throughout presentations, live band performances or curated DJ playlists.

Notable ballroom features are also ideal for professional engagements and brand events. Event presentations are entirely wireless and are displayed through two ceiling-mounted HD projectors that allow dual-screen projections with high-resolution contrast screens.

Beyond the ballroom, guests enjoy Miami Beach’s sought-after weather on a private 1,300-square-foot, wrap-around terrace facing the pool area and Miami Beach Boardwalk. Outfitted with a convenient drink rail, contemporary bistro lights and a retractable awning, the ballroom’s terrace offers an intimate environment to connect with guests with unbeatable views. A dedicated Carmen Miranda Ballroom staircase allows guests to access the pool and beach area without having to enter through the front of the hotel. Visitors may also enter the ballroom directly from The Backyard, which houses the property’s historic free-standing Spanish-style bungalow, The 1930s House.

In addition to the Carmen Miranda Ballroom, The Confidante completed a significant meeting and event space renovation in October 2017. The interior renovation included technology and design enhancements for 10,000 square feet of multifunctional spaces on the second floor. The hotel’s Century Ballroom, a 2,000-square-foot space that seats up to 150 people, received new carpeting, a prefunction area, a new wireless LCD projector and an 18-foot drop-down screen. Seven breakout rooms that accommodate 10-30 people each were also constructed with 95-inch touchscreen TVs and induction cooktops for catering. The new Carmen Miranda Ballroom now connects all rooms on the second floor, offering guests Miami’s most unique venues for all types of occasions.
