Tourism Office VP Resigns

The head of Streator, Ill.’s tourism office resigned his secondary job as a LaSalle County tourism coordinator to protest a lack of focus on the county, The Pantagraph newspaper reported.

Ed Brozak was vice president of the LaSalle County Coalition, which works with the County Board and Heritage Corridor CVB, serving communities along the Illinois & Michigan Canal from Chicago to LaSalle County.

The president of the coalition, Tammy Barry of Ottawa, also resigned.

In his resignation letter, Brozak claimed that the Heritage Corridor agency was attempting to seize control of the coalition to promote events not related to the county and not taking advantage of the growing tourism business in the county. Barry cited only other commitments as the reason for her resignation.
