New Orleans' Ernest N. Morial Convention Center wins architectural award

The engineering firm Thornton Tomasetti received a 2013 Structural Engineering Association of Kansas and Missouri (SEAKM) Award for its work on a $55 million expansion project at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

The project expanded Exhibit Hall A into a 60,000-square-foot state-of-the-art ballroom and constructed a new grand entrance, in addition to expanding pedestrian space and adding a new outdoor terrace overlooking a jumbo video screen for group messaging.

The center hosted the NFL Experience during Super Bowl XLVII at the beginning of this year, featuring interactive games, memorabilia and player appearances that attracted large crowds, and offers 1.1 million square feet of total exhibit space.
