GMID Celebrates the Industry in Second Year

Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) is back with even more special events and activities scheduled throughout the day—from networking events across the U.S. and worldwide to CSR activities and more.

Meetings Mean Business has compiled a list of all of the official activities that are going on either in celebration of the hard work planners do on a daily basis or to raise awareness of the industry, but there are numerous other events going on across the country in collaboration with area DMOs and planners.

April can be an especially busy month for meeting and event planners, so if you’re not able to attend an event in person, you can share the hard work you’re doing on social media using #GMID2017.

Even if you just have a moment to post a photo of your team (or self) in action, it helps spread the word about the day and let’s others outside the industry learn more about the value of face-to-face meetings.

If you’re curious in learning more about the history of GMID (and its roots as North American Meetings Industry Day and National Meetings Industry Day in Canada even before that), check out this article that contributor Ruth A. Hill previously wrote for Meetings Today, as it gives a good rundown of events.

Most importantly, we know that meeting and event planning is one of the more stressful careers out there, so take a moment to relax and maybe practice some meditation. You’ve earned it!
