First Look: TWA Hotel Shows Off Event Space

The TWA Hotel is gearing up for its spring 2019 opening at John F. Kennedy International Airport by offering planners a first look at its 50,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

The overall project, led by MCR and MORSE Development, is restoring Eero Saarinen’s landmark 1962 TWA Flight Center at JFK Airport and transforming it into a 512-room hotel.

New York-based architecture and design firm INC is the interior designer of the TWA Hotel event spaces.

The TWA Hotel’s meeting space includes 45 function rooms, a 15,000-square-foot ballroom with prefunction space and five hospitality suites. The property will also boast an additional 200,000 square feet of event space in the former TWA terminal, including outdoor terraces and an observation deck.

In fall 2018, MCR and MORSE Development will unveil an additional event space.

“The reaction and anticipation among event and meeting planners has been overwhelming,” says Tyler Morse, CEO of MCR and MORSE Development. “There is something quite special about hosting events at the TWA Hotel. We are restoring one of the most important buildings in America, the TWA Flight Center, and event attendees will be greeted by the vibrant spirit of 1962, the year the Flight Center opened.”

Morse also emphasized the hotel’s modern amenities that will help it stand out from the competition.

The TWA Hotel will house six restaurants and eight bars, a 10,000-square-foot observation deck with pool, a fitness facility and an on-site museum. The museum will provide relevant information on the Jet Age, TWA history and the midcentury modern design movement, among its offerings. The hotel will be connected to JetBlue Terminal 5, a short walk to Terminal 4 and a five minute AirTran ride to all other airport terminals.

Booking for meetings is now open and reservations for guest rooms will open December 2018.
