Every meeting or event planner loves to look at the excellent design work of their colleagues, so with that in mind Meetings Today held an Awe-Inspiring Decor contest last fall.
The winning submission stemmed from the work of Alicia Kingsley, creative director of PRA South Florida, who designed Nova Southeastern University’s annual Celebration of Excellence awards gala.

This awards dinner looked to the deep ocean for a spin on “Under the Sea.” The design included centerpieces of blown glass, shades of blue and a focal wave installation overhead.
PRA South Florida was challenged with creating an event that celebrated the college’s shark mascot rebranding campaign.
“As the lead designer, my design approach was to highlight the college shark mascot and university colors in a subtle and sophisticated way,” Kingsley said. “I focused on creating a modern tablescape with subtle underwater references. I introduced shark sculptures, modern white elements and lots of candlelight to curate a look that is relevant to the theme and unexpected. I combined several linens and textures to give the room movement and interest. I also designed a custom ceiling wave installation that added much needed drama. We enhanced the space with blue lighting, which appealed to the theme and introduced a dark, moody vibe.”

For her team’s work, PRA South Florida won an air-inclusive, four-night trip for two to the all-inclusive UNICO Riviera Maya!
