Pennsylvania Convention Center

When you hold a meeting, convention or trade show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, you are not just investing in a building or floor space—you are investing in an experience. Located in the heart of Philadelphia, the convention center is just steps away from the city’s attractions, restaurants and hotels. Progressive work rules and streamlined services provide our customers with just the right amount of flexibility and independence they need, resulting in greater cost efficiencies and better overall customer experience. And did we mention we have one of the largest ballrooms in the Northeast?

Add their ongoing commitment to sustainability and it’s a win-win for planners. The convention center continues to reduce the environmental impact of its operations. This commitment includes the use of eco-conscious cleaning products, reduced water consumption, energy efficient LED lighting, a new reflective roof, expanded recycling and streamlined management of HVAC, lighting, power, elevators and escalators.

Leverage Our Community For You

The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau was well prepared to deal with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the first and only division of a CVB in the country focused on life sciences meetings, PHL Life Sciences provides access to Philadelphia’s substantial healthcare and higher education community of academics, medical and nursing leaders, healthcare experts, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and venture capital contacts.

To better assist our customers, we added a Chief Health Advisor to our team, Dr. David Nash, Dean Emeritus of the Jefferson College of Population Health. Dr. Nash supports the PHLCVB by reviewing current public health guidelines and protocols and making recommendations to meeting planner customers. He’s there to answer questions around planning a safe, successful event. We have been pleased to offer several educational webinars with Dr. Nash for our customers.

Philadelphia has the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) experts you need. DEI is a priority in Philadelphia, a city striving to achieve the founding ideals of our country. The City of Philadelphia has taken several steps to dismantle institutional and structural barriers, establish DEI best practices in the public sector and ensure the protection of marginalized groups. Since 2015, these efforts have garnered a 100-perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index.

As a result of a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, the PHLCVB became one of the first CVBs in the U.S. to establish a division highlighting the destination as a diverse, equitable and inclusive location for meetings, events, conventions and visitors. For more than 30 years, PHL Diversity has been connecting meeting planners to local diverse businesses and suppliers, and to community leaders who have shared values and goals and can help facilitate community engagement programs or serve as speakers and experts.

This longstanding commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion led to the formation of Tourism Diversity Matters, a national diversity resource that educates, advocates, engages and empowers tourism and events industry leaders to incorporate DEI into their strategies and plans.

Philadelphia successfully hosted the largest trade show in 18 months since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic with Natural Products Expo East. More than 800 exhibitors and more than 15,000 attendees gathered in September 2021, providing a valuable opportunity for in-person discovery and sampling, guided by a detailed health and safety plan developed in close collaboration with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, the Pennsylvania Convention Center, ASM Global, the PHLCVB and NPEE organizers.

Now more than ever, planners need a partner on the ground in their future host city to help navigate the ever-changing environment. Our team provides updates on the most recent COVID-19 information and meeting guidelines. With over 76% of all eligible adults fully vaccinated, we are ready to host.

When you’re ready to start planning your meeting or event, the PHLCVB is here to help.
