MPI used Global Meetings Industry Day as a platform to announce upcoming destinations for its World Education Congress (WEC) event through 2026.

WEC, one of the premier meetings and events industry’s largest events, draws approximately 2,500 meetings and events professionals, who come to network and partake of its leading educational programming.

“We are thrilled about our future WEC destinations.” said Annette Gregg, senior vice president of experience for MPI, in a statement announcing the destinations. “Each of these areas is unique, with authentic and diverse cultures. Their destination assets will help us craft incredible experiences for our WEC participants.”

Following are the destinations that will host WEC through 2026:

2023: Riviera Maya

MPI will return to this Caribbean resort destination on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula following its 2019 WEC there. The event will be held at Barcelo Maya Riviera resort. MPI said one of the primary factors in selecting the destination was to reinforce the association’s global reach.

2024: St. Louis

After having to be postponed due to the massive expansion of America’s Center Convention Complex, WEC is set to return to St. Louis in 2024, where it held its 2012 WEC.

2025: Louisville, Kentucky

WEC’s 2025 Louisville event marks a return to the Southeast U.S. after more than a decade.

According to Cleo Battle, president and CEO at Louisville Tourism, destination highlights will include “showcasing our city’s unique brand of Southern hospitality, iconic attractions, Urban Bourbon Trail experience and rich culinary scene, while supporting the continuing growth and development of our meeting facilities, hotels and attractions,” and will also showcase the recent $207 million renovation and expansion of the Kentucky International Convention Center.

2026: San Antonio

Previously announced, one of the Lone Star State’s premier tourism destinations will host the 2026 edition of WEC.

This year’s WEC will take place June 21-23 in San Francisco. Registration for WEC San Francisco is open at www.mpi.org/wec
