AC Hotel San Rafael Hires Three New Executive Team Members

AC Hotel San Rafael in Downtown San Rafael, California, hired three new executive team members in preparation for the property’s summer 2023 opening.

Mark Pope joins the hotel as general manager, bringing with him almost 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Pope has received five TripAdvisor People's Choice Awards and was honored with two Choreographer Awards for being the top-performing general manager in the western division while serving as general manager of Extended Stay America's Pleasant Hill for Luxe Hotel.

Before joining AC San Rafael Hotel, Pope served as the district manager for Luxe Hotels' San Jose Properties. Recently, he was the opening manager for Moxy Oakland Downtown by Marriott, overseeing its opening and first year of service.

AC Hotel San Rafael also welcomed Aashna Grewal to its executive team as director of sales, who brings with her over 12 years of experience with Marriott hotels. She has held various sales-related positions including senior sales manager at Pier 2620 Hotel Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, where she handled catering leads and managed all market segments. Grewal also served as director of sales for Four Points by Sheraton in San Rafael.

Jesus Avila joins the hotel’s executive team as director of engineering and style, with experience working in both restaurants and hotels. Before owning and managing Tortilla Flats in Chico, California for 12 years, he served as task force general manager for Chipotle locations across California. Avila later joined Pope's team at Extended Stay America in Pleasant Hill as director of maintenance before becoming director of engineering and housekeeping at Moxy Oakland Downtown.
