Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina

California - Meet & Green Initiatives

Everyone in the meetings and events industry is talking about sustainability, and Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina is exemplifying its commitment to a greener and more sustainable future with the introduction of its new “Meet & Green” initiative.

Following a complete transformation of its 130,000 square feet of meeting space, Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina has been recognized for achieving a gold-level environmental standard by nonprofit environmental standard and certification organization Green Seal for implementing the following green initiatives:

1. Reducing Food Waste

With its new 220-pound food dehydrator, Sheraton San Diego Hotel can turn kitchen food waste into a sustainable solution and reduce food waste to 20% of its original weight through dehydration. The hotel is able to contribute more effectively to composting efforts and promote a more sustainable solution to food and kitchen waste.

2. Conscious Paper Usage

All paper products provided by the property for meetings and events such as paper handouts, printed signage, note pads and paper napkins are made from a minimum of 30% post-consumer recycled content. Reducing the amount of paper waste allows the hotel to provide a more environmentally sustainable event experience for participants.

The Sheraton San Diego Hotel is replacing its traditional menus and other printed materials with paperless resources that are available to both planners and guests online to minimize waste.

4. Water Wisdom

The hotel installed EPA WaterSense-labeled fixtures in all guest rooms and public bathrooms to reduce water usage while not compromising luxury and comfort.

5. Green Cleaning

The hotel now uses eco-friendly cleaning products including non-toxic, phosphate-free and biodegradable solutions for everything from laundry services to room cleanings.

Located in the hotel’s own forest canyon, the expansion offers travelers an experience like no other completely immersed in the surrounding lush jungle landscape. The water experience features five Jacuzzis, seven pools, an elongated lazy river and two kid-friendly areas. Inspired by the Tolantongo caves in the state of Hidalgo, where thermal waters cascade to form natural pools, the Aqua Jungle & River experience reflects the cave atmosphere at the hotel and allows guests to relax and enjoy Mexico’s natural beauty with modern amenities.

Delta Hotels by Marriott Riviera Nayarit features 212 rooms and suites with mountain views and a design reminiscent of local Mexican elements and artistry. The addition of the new Aqua Jungle & River experience offers a new level for incentive groups to host their event at a resort with modern amenities located in a centralized point between Sayulita, San Pancho and Punta Mita.
