Visit Savannah announced the upcoming retirement of its chief sales officer of 15 years, Jeff Hewitt, effective December 31.
Hewitt joined Visit Savannah in 2010 and played an instrumental role in expanding the organization’s national and international sales reach, building lasting industry relationships and ushering in projects such as the development and opening of the Savannah Convention Center expansion.
During his tenure with Visit Savannah, Hewitt and his team helped grow room night production in Savannah from 80,000 to over 315,000 along with a doubling of the destination’s total hotel room inventory.
“After 40 years in the tourism and hospitality industry, I look back with tremendous gratitude to the people who believed in me and allowed me to try new and innovative things,” Hewitt said in a press release. “I have been fortunate to work with a talented and passionate team that has accomplished great things, and I will leave knowing that Savannah’s future is secure in their hands.”
Kellie Linder has been named vice president of sales and services and will lead Visit Savannah’s sales team beginning in January.
