As the U.S. Travel Association continues to advocate for travel policies ahead of the 2028 Olympics, America 250 and 2026 FIFA World Cup, the association tagged Erik Hansen as senior vice president, head of government relations.

In his new role, Hansen will lead advocacy strategy and engagement with policymakers to strengthen and grow the U.S. travel industry.

He joined the U.S. Travel Association 15 years ago from Capitol Hill. Over that time, Hansen has led advocacy efforts to shape federal policies including reopening U.S. borders after the COVID-19 pandemic as well as establishing TSA PreCheck and Global Entry.

“I have every confidence he will lead our advocacy efforts with the same integrity, collaboration and commitment he’s shown throughout his career,” said Geoff Freeman, president and CEO of U.S. Travel, in a press release.
