Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Appoints New COO

Dan Hayes.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) has named Dan Hayes chief operating officer, effective November 3. He will lead the operations of the 4.6-million-square-foot Las Vegas Convention Center, overseeing teams responsible for convention services, guest experience, facility operations, maintenance, and energy and utility services.

Hayes’ appointment comes just as the convention center’s massive four-year expansion and renovation project is set to finish. Construction of the West Hall added 600,000 square feet of event space in 2024, while the Central Hall renovation wraps up this December. It delivers a new grand lobby, updated lighting and signage in meeting rooms and prefunction spaces, a refreshed exterior to match the adjacent West Hall and an interior concourse connecting the North and South Halls.

Hayes comes to Las Vegas from the Salt Palace Convention Center and the Mountain America Expo Center in Salt Lake County, Utah, where he served as general manager for both venues. In that role, he led a staff of more than 600 people and contributed to the planning of a $1.5-billion convention center renovation.

During his 25 years as a facility manager, Hayes has earned multiple certifications for sustainable operations.

“Dan has a proven track record of building high-performing teams, driving results, and bolstering key partnerships,” said Steve Hill, CEO and president of the LVCVA, in a press release. “His vision will be instrumental in maintaining Las Vegas’ position as the premier destination for world-class events and ensuring an exceptional convention center experience.”
