The DoubleTree by Hilton SeaWorld recently unveiled a name change—DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando Theme Park Resort—highlighting the hotel’s prime location on International Drive and putting guests at the doorstep of Orlando’s world-class theme parks.
“Our new name simply reflects the spirit of our property with 28 beautiful acres nestled in the heart of the convention district and minutes from Seaworld, Walt Disney World and Universal,” says Jason Lopez, managing director of the hotel.
In January, the 1,042-room hotel was buzzing with guests due to two of Orlando’s largest city-wide conventions—VMX (Veterinary Meeting & Expo) which welcomed more than 30,000 and the PGA Show which drew a crowd at more than 33,000 attendees, both at the Orange County Convention Center.
Guests attending these blockbuster conventions didn’t just benefit from the hotel’s convenient location—they truly got to take advantage of all the resort has to offer including two sparkling pools, a well-equipped 24-hour fitness center and an on-site miniature golf course.
Guests could dine on juicy steaks and fresh seafood at Laguna Restaurant and Bar, grab a slice at laid-back Alberto’s Pizzeria, toast the day with tropical cocktails at Barefoot Bar poolside, or wind down in style at Sonoma Lobby Bar. And for those early mornings or afternoon pick-me-ups, Starbucks is right on property.
While business goals are always at the forefront for meeting groups, Lopez says that the DoubleTree has become a haven for “bleisure.” After meetings wrap, families often take advantage of the hotel’s unbeatable location, squeezing in visits to Orlando’s legendary theme parks or simply relaxing on-site for a mini getaway.
As the number one meetings destination in the country, according to CVENT, Lopez is enthusiastic about meetings in 2026.
“We’ve seen very strong demand from meeting groups so far this year and planners are engaged earlier in the process, so that’s helped us tremendously. We also get great leads from Visit Orlando and CVENT,” he says.
Stellar Service, Stellar Staff
According to Lopez, the secret ingredient that truly distinguishes the resort and entices meeting groups to return year after year isn’t just the amenities or the prime location—it’s the exceptional DoubleTree staff.
“Plenty of hotels can promise crisp white linens, diverse dining venues and the latest high-tech amenities in every room. But what truly sets us apart—and inspires groups to return again and again—is the genuine hospitality and personal commitment of our staff.
“Many of our team members have been part of the DoubleTree family for decades, creating an atmosphere of comfort that guests immediately sense. In fact, Audrey, our assistant director of housekeeping, has been welcoming guests for more than 40 years. It’s this passion for hospitality from the entire staff that truly sets us apart.”
Lopez adds guests have remarked that staff have greeted them by name, often by staff members they haven’t seen in years. It’s these personal connections and thoughtful touches that create lasting memories.
All in all, 2026 seems to be setting the stage for a positive year overall, says Lopez. “I think we’re starting a new era of in person meeting and events. Orlando continues to be a reliable and supported destination and at DoubleTree, we want to be flexible to the needs of meeting professionals to make sure they have successful programs,” he says.
