Shinola Hotel opened in Detroit’s historic Woodward Avenue shopping district. The property is within walking distance of Ford Field, Comerica Park and Little Caesars Arena.
The 129-key hotel offers various meeting and event spaces including the Birdy Room, a unique space with glass ceilings creating a sunroom-style venue with an adjacent private garden.
Shinola Hotel is comprised of two restored historic buildings - the former T.B. Rayl Co. department store and a former Singer sewing machine-store, which was once home to the Singer Sewing Machine company, along with three brand new buildings. The hotel comes from two iconic Detroit-based brands, luxury watchmaker Shinola and real estate firm Bedrock and is operated by Mac&Lo.
The hotel will be outfitted with Shinola products made exclusively for the hotel.
Food and beverage programming will be led by Chef Andrew Carmellini of NoHo Hospitality Group and will feature multiple venues, including:
- San Morello, a Southern Italian restaurant serves wood-fired dishes and house-made pastas using local, seasonal ingredients.
- Evening Bar, a classic American bar with seasonally crafted cocktails and bar bites.
- The Brakeman, an American beer hall featuring rotating drafts of craft beers from the Midwest.
- Penny Red’s, the place to get fried chicken served up buckets along with honey-butter biscuits and other sides.
Meeting and event spaces range the Foundry Room, perfect for smaller meetings to Bixby Hall, a spacious venue with a tiled ceiling, chandeliers, a marble fireplace and French doors that provide outdoor access.
Retail spaces will be occupied by Le Labo, Madewell, Good Neighbor, Drought and other to-be revealed brands.
