The renovation of the 182-room iconic Union Club Hotel at Purdue University is expected to welcome guests starting in the fall semester. The hotel’s management company, White Lodging, recently announced the hotel’s leadership team, which includes Victoria Wicks, general manager; Brett Ociepka, assistant general manager; and Stephanie Portrey, director of sales and marketing.
In the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the construction team is taking all necessary health and safety precautions and the hotel’s leadership team is working remotely to ensure a successful opening in August.
The Union Club Hotel renovation involves a complete overhaul of all guest rooms and public spaces, including a significant transformation of the lobby to create a grand entrance with a modern loft-like feel and one-of-a-kind art installation behind the front desk. In addition, a yet-to-be-announced full-service restaurant, a classic cocktail bar, and coffee and pastry counter will be added to the property.
As part of the hotel’s service, it will also act as a real-life training ground for Purdue’s hospitality and culinary students. The Union Club Hotel is now available to book stays starting on Sept. 8, 2020.
Best Western Hotels & Resorts recently announced the opening of the Best Western Plus Champaign/Urbana Inn. The hotel recently completed a $1.9 million renovation and features 98 guest rooms and six suites.
Hotel amenities include a heated indoor pool, fitness center, two different meeting and event spaces, complimentary hot breakfast and free wireless internet. Each newly updated room is equipped with a large flat-screen television, microwave and mini fridge. The hotel offers complimentary faxing, printing and scanning for business and leisure travelers alike.
The Best Western Plus Champaign/Urbana Inn offers easy access to Market Place Mall, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Illinois Observatory, the State Farm Center sports and entertainment venue, the Spurlock Museum and Chanute Air Museum, and Crystal Lake Park.
Lake Lawn Resort is undergoing a renovation including improvements to the conference center meeting spaces, which are scheduled for completion this summer, as well as upcoming improvements to guest rooms and public areas.
Last year, the resort added a 76-foot tour boat to its portfolio. The two-level Lake Lawn Queen, which conducts private charters for groups on Delavan Lake, features a climate-controlled main level, an open-air upper deck, video screens and a multi-channel sound system.

Lake Lawn Resort in the Lake Geneva area is centrally located in Southeastern Wisconsin and is only 90 minutes from Chicago, and 50 minutes from Milwaukee and Madison.
Its 32,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, which includes 22 meeting rooms, can accommodate groups of up to 500 attendees. Groups can hold a board room meeting in one of the executive boardrooms and utilize the championship golf course, Calladora Spa or boat rentals for cruising past more than 2.5 miles of shoreline on Delavan Lake.
Lake Lawn Resort offers 271 guest rooms, lofts and suites, with every room having at least one patio or balcony with some lake views.
