The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, opened Perry Lane Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel. The new hotel is the vision of a fictional muse, Adelaide Harcourt, whose life experiences, travels and love of Savannah inspired the hotel’s design and whimsical art collection, which is eclectic, worldly and peculiar.

Omni Charlotte Hotel completed its multimillion-dollar renovation that includes a sleek new exterior, a modern lobby experience, a refreshed restaurant and bar, new guest rooms and suites and a redesigned rooftop pool deck and bar space.

The 125-room DoubleTree by Hilton Youngstown Downtown opened in Eastern Ohio. Conveniently located between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, the 12-story hotel is in the former Stambaugh Building, designed by renowned architect Albert Kahn and is listed on the Historic Registry.

The Crowne Plaza Farmington Hills-Novi, previously the Holiday Inn Farmington Hills, opened with 134-suites. The property is approximately 20 minutes from downtown Detroit and offers shuttle service to nearby offices and local attractions. The property is owned by Everett House Partners and managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts.

The 236-room Westin Virginia Beach Town Center completed its multimillion-dollar renovation. The redesign includes all guest rooms, public spaces as well as conference and event space.

The Renaissance Columbus Westerville-Polaris Hotel opened its doors in early June. The modern American lake house-inspired hotel features 222 guest rooms and 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space with the capacity to seat up to 750 guests.

DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean City Oceanfront opened its doors after completing a multimillion-dollar renovation. Upgrades include guest rooms, a complete makeover of the lobby, new furniture throughout the hotel, eco-friendly and technological enhancements and new dining options.

Westgate Resorts acquired the former Hilton New York Grand Central and the hotel has been rebranded as Westgate New York City. The 23-floor, 300-room, two-tower property is located in the historic Tudor City neighborhood within the heart of Midtown Manhattan’s East Side.

Tragedy struck during the NeoCon 50 tradeshow after Jacqueline E. Albertine, 57, fell from a swing installed in the David Edward showroom on the 3rd floor of Chicago’s Merchandise Mart. She died on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. The NeoCon example shows that it is critical for meeting and event planners to exercise the proper duty of care to mitigate accidents and reduce organizational liability if the unforeseen happens.

The Oxford Hotel, a historic property in the heart of Denver’s LoDo district, completed a major renovation. The refresh included updating the hotel’s lobby and 80 guest rooms with a lighter and brighter overall design, featuring fresh white and gray tones complimented by pops of vibrant blue and rich emerald green.
