Greater Boston

Brilliantly Boston

By MARIA LENHART

Boston, one of the nation’s most historic and traditional cities, is also one of its most dynamic and progressive. While the Beacon Hill and Back Bay neighborhoods, with their stately red brick townhouses and willow-draped green spaces, would still be recognizable to a visitor from the 19th century, areas such as the new Seaport District—now Boston’s main convention hub—would astonish anyone who hasn’t been to the city within the last five years.

“Boston, along with Cambridge just across the River Charles, is a center of science and innovation, possibly boasting more prestigious colleges and universities per square mile than any other place on the planet. When its cultural and historical attractions, many of which offer inviting spaces for special events, are factored in, it’s little wonder that this relatively compact area is a powerhouse destination for meetings.

What’s New in Greater Wilmington, Delaware?

Trio of fresh options includes regally restored historic theatre

Meeting planners pondering Wilmington, Del. as an event locale now have three new possibilities to consider, as well as a special offer from the local CVB.

World Cafe Live in the Queen opened in Downtown Wilmington in April. The former movie theatre that lay dormant on Market Street for 50 years has been totally restored to its original glory and now functions as a spectacular venue for live entertainment that showcases the entire musical spectrum. It’s an extension of Philadelphia-based performance venue, World Cafe Live. In addition to its main auditorium which accommodates 400, the Queen Theatre houses a 160-seat restaurant and two separate meeting spaces, each of which provides flexible seating for 120 attendees. The Queen Theatre is becoming a prime choice for corporate meetings, with state-of-the-art sound and audio-visual systems that allow clients to incorporate numerous technical amenities into their events.
