Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, a waterfront resort in the heart of San Diego harbor, has completed the first phase of an $88 million renovation, which includes upgrades and refurbishment of 97,000 square feet of meeting space in the hotel’s Marina Tower. This encompasses two main ballrooms, a new 20,000-square-foot outdoor pavilion, a lower-level ballroom/foyer and multiple breakout rooms.

The refreshed spaces have a design aesthetic inspired by the property’s waterfront location with blue and green hues. Planners can also expect new eye-catching light fixtures, abstract carpeting and bright white wood wainscoting. Additional features include a bipolar ionization filtration system, water bottle fillable stations and hand sanitizer stations.

Sheraton San Diego has also partnered with local AV company Fluid Sound to create a Zoom broadcast room with a built-in Zoom system, allowing users to join a Zoom meeting by simply typing in a meeting code. Also featured in the room is an 85-inch Samsung Flip screen (that can also be used as a whiteboard), plus a built-in ceiling microphone, speakers and a camera for easy collaboration with a remote audience.

The quiet, upscale Los Angeles suburb of Calabasas welcomed Cambria Hotel Calabasas in late 2021. The 125-room property is adjacent to the Santa Monica Mountains with plenty of trails for hiking and mountain biking within reach. Amenities include an outdoor heated pool with mountain views.

Onsite dining is available at Malibu Canyon Bar and Grill, open for breakfast and dinner. Guests can enjoy grab-and-go gourmet salads and sandwiches, as well as a barista bar. The property also offers 912 square feet of meeting and event space in the Hill View room, while the outdoor patio offers 1,000 square feet ideal for receptions and banquets. Both spaces can accommodate up to 60 guests.

A new luxury resort has arrived in the Colorado mountain destination of Vail. The Hythe, a Luxury Collection Resort, Vail debuted in late 2021 and offers 344 rooms, many of which have fireplaces and kitchenettes. Nestled at the base of Vail Mountain, guests can easily explore myriad outdoor experiences for every season, as well as peruse plenty of shops and art galleries along the streets of Lionshead Village.

Along with a world-class spa onsite, guests can also enjoy four brand-new culinary concepts, including its dinner destination Margie’s Haas, named after WWII-era resident and local cook Margie Haas. The restaurant celebrates “her flair for hosting” and is inspired by “her homestead, where troopers from the 10th Mountain on their way to Denver stopped in for one of Margie’s home-cooked meals.”

When it comes to meeting and event space, The Hythe offers 29,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. Onsite venues include a grand ballroom, clocking in at 8,286 square feet, that can accommodate up to 1,000.

Old Town Scottsdale just got more meetings friendly. Canopy by Hilton Scottsdale Old Town, the first hotel to open in Old Town Scottsdale in more than a decade, boasts more than 1,900 square feet of modernly designed meeting space. This includes the Winfield Ballroom, which can be split into two spaces that create 985 square feet per room. The space features floor-to-ceiling windows, wood frame chairs, nesting tables and settees for comfort.

Both rooms are equipped with a large 15-inch dropdown projection screen and built-in audio for presentations. Hybrid meetings are also possible with the optional 360-degree camera, microphone and speaker package.

Canopy Scottsdale is located in the heart of downtown Scottsdale and offers 177 guest rooms. Its design is meant to be “a natural extension of Scottsdale, Arizona’s historic arts district,” with nods to the fine arts and artisan community that surrounds the property. The hotel features curated work by local artists and a rich color palette inspired by Arizona’s famous vistas.

Guests can enjoy views of Scottsdale and the Camelback Mountains at the Outrider Rooftop Lounge, serving up handcrafted cocktails and small bites. Or they can dine on the main level at Cobre Kitchen and Cocktails, a Southwest-inspired American brasserie offering small and shareable plates that highlight local flavors.
