Goldwyn Resort & Residences opened its doors on Cable Beach in Nassau, 15 minutes from Linden Pindling International Airport and 10 minutes from downtown Nassau. The resort features 81 residential-style accommodations including studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom suites and three expansive Edge suites.

The three-bedroom signature Goldwynn Suite, suitable for hosting, features 1,940 square feet of interior space, three balconies, two terraces and a 270-degree unobstructed ocean view. The beachfront resort sits 50 feet from the water and features 12,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting space for events like corporate gatherings and retreats. 

Guests can gather at Amara, the resort’s open-air eatery located on the infinity-pool deck, for a social environment alongside other guests, or choose to dine poolside in a private, butler-serviced cabana with views of the Cable Beach coastline. For something a bit more formal, Atira showcases the hemisphere’s tallest indoor relief sculpture, stretching five stories into the air by Bahamian master artist Kishan Munroe.

Intercontinental Miami announced it has begun a $36 million renovation that will transform the resort’s 653 guest rooms and suites and reimagine the hotel’s 29th floor Club Lounge. Slated to be complete by summer 2023, the refresh will enhance technology in all rooms, bring new bathroom designs and the new DayLife Cabanas, a rooftop and poolside oasis set to feature eight private cabanas and a new pool bar experience. 

Boasting 360-degree views of Miami’s iconic skyline and Biscayne Bay, SkyLawn at Intercontinental measures 35,000 square feet and can host up to 1,000 guests on the hotel’s fifth floor. The turf area features a pre-reception lounge and projector wall. www.ihg.com 

The 433-room Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort completed a renovation of its prefunction spaces and meeting rooms, totaling 32,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space. The $2 million renovation encompassed new carpets, flooring, lighting and millwork as well as refurbished airwalls and refreshed artwork.

North Carolina

Pinehurst Resort announced it will break ground on its first new golf course in nearly three decades. The new course at “The Cradle of American Golf” will be designed by Tom Doak, one of the most respected and decorated contemporary golf course architects, and is slated to open in 2024, coinciding with the June return of the U.S. Open to Pinehurst No. 2.

The new course, which will be the resort’s 10th, will incorporate rugged dunes accented by native sand and wiregrass, natural ridgelines, intriguing landforms, towering longleaf pines and streams and ponds. 

Pinehurst Resort was established in 1895 and currently boasts nine courses across the 2,200-acre property in the Sandhills of North Carolina. Groups can meet “among the pines” in the resort’s 60,000 square feet of flexible event space with capacities ranging from 50-1,300.

South Carolina

Dreamscape Companies announced that its boutique Charleston-based hotel, The Palmetto, is approaching completion and officially slated to open its doors in March 2023. Located in the heart of Charleston’s historic French Quarter, The Palmetto has been reimagined to provide a deeply authentic Charleston experience particular to where it resides, steps from the city’s finest restaurants and bars.

The 45-room hotel places guests near live music and Lowcountry fare with both High Cotton, an award-winning restaurant, and Slightly North of Broad, a second celebrated eatery next door. Slightly North of Broad is slated to debut a special partnership with The Palmetto for guests upon the hotel’s opening.

The Palmetto’s Penthouse features floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic views of the downtown skyline overlooking Charleston’s historic district. The 800-square-foot suite features an additional 500 square feet on its balcony complete with chaise lounges and outdoor dining seating.
