Sudden Passing for Conference Industry Pro

MT. VERNON, N.Y.

Veteran conference center professional James Michael Mahon, of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., passed away April 5, 2015, at the age of 63 after a sudden illness.

Mahon was most recently president of James M. Marketing, representing the International Association of Conference Centres.

Mahon spent his formative years in the meetings industry as the director of marketing and public relations at Doral Arrowwood Conference Center in Rye Brook, N.Y., from 1983 to 1995, where he met many others who have made careers in the conference center segment of the meetings industry. After Arrowwood, he worked for conference center hospitality management company Dolce International.

Mahon was born in Yonkers, N.Y., to Richard and Audrey Moran Mahon, and leaves behind his wife, Mary, and daughter Kathleen and her fiancé Thomas Vaughan, as well as brothers Richard and Timothy, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Many of us at Meetings Focus had the pleasure of working with James Mahon regularly over the years, and he will be missed greatly by the meetings industry.
