While many of the logistical challenges of the meeting- and event-planning world change very little year-over-year, some key results from our Meetings Today Trends Survey point to a major shift in some of the more personal issues of meeting planners.

Bahia Resort Hotel, located in San Diego’s coastal Mission Bay neighborhood, announced Jim Chester as its new general manager. Previously serving as the company’s director of food and beverage for nearly a decade, Chester will now oversee daily operations for the 313-room bayside resort in his new role.

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit debuted in the capital city of Thailand. The hotel is part of a 31-story, mixed-use development, which includes condominiums and upscale retail shops. The property’s design pays tribute to the golden periods of Thai history through contemporary aesthetics, furniture and rugs and features sculptures by renowned local artist, Ajarn Nontiwat Jantanapalin.

Hilton Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of Hilton Da Nang, a 28-story, 223-room full-service hotel. Located near the Han Bridge and the city’s famed Bach Dang street, the hotel provides easy access to the hub of Da Nang’s main entertainment, shopping and business areas.

DoubleTree by Hilton La Torre Golf & Spa Resort opened with 133 guest rooms and the largest ballroom space in the region. The property is located less than 30 minutes from the city of Murcia, surrounded by 20 golf courses, a range of tapas bars and restaurants and a convention center.

The Greenwich Hospitality Group acquired the West Bay Beach Holiday Inn Resort. The property will be elevated and rebranded to DELAMAR Traverse City after an extensive renovation. The $10 million transformation will be phased over a two-year period, during which it will remain open. DELAMAR is the flagship brand of Greenwich Hospitality.
