Mandalay Bay Unveils Plans for $100 Million Renovation

Mandalay Bay Convention Center Prefunction Space

Already standing as the fifth-largest convention center in the U.S., Mandalay Bay shared plans for its $100-million renovation of the 2.1-million-square-foot Mandalay Bay Convention Center, highlighting its completed phase-one enhancements during IMEX America 2022.

Throughout phase one, the convention center saw upgrades including refreshed meeting, prefunction and exhibit spaces, featuring improved lighting, digital signage and new, freshly painted seating nooks, as well as upgraded carpeting and new wall-art pieces.

The Mandalay Bay Convention Center also installed all-new Cat6A cables throughout its spaces, doubling the capacity for data transmission and increasing data speeds by up to 9,400%, and hosts and sponsors can now utilize enhanced ways of communicating with attendees through 11 digital walls designed for brand placements, sponsorship opportunities and targeted event messaging.

Attendees can more easily make their way around as well, with 20 double-sided 55-inch mobile flexible-display units throughout the convention center. Technology enhancements to come will include RFID locks on all meeting room doors and the installation of more than 200 motion detection cameras.

Enhancements to the convention center’s interior include white-washed walls and ceilings to complement the bold floral-patterned carpets and warm accent walls, while Mandalay Bay’s 1-million square feet of exhibit space saw upgrades including refreshed paint, covered pillars and relocated strobe lights.

Mandalay Bay Convention Center will remain open and operational throughout the extensive remodel, with additional upgrades and phases scheduled through the end of 2024. Mandalay Bay also has plans to remodel all 424 rooms and suites at Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas next year, as well as the addition of Flanker Kitchen + Sports Bar in summer 2023 and the complete redesign of STRIPSTEAK early next year.
