The Driskill Taps Markus Puereschitz as General Manager

Historic hotel The Driskill appointed Markus Puereschitz as general manager, tasked with overseeing day-to-day operations at the legendary destination in downtown Austin dating to 1886. 

In his new role, Puereschitz will manage the team that operates across The Driskill, which offers 189 guest rooms and suites, 18,000 square feet of flexible meeting spaces and the famous Driskill Bar and 1886 Cafe & Bakery. Puereschitz will also integrate luxury brand standards and service culture, including boosting partnerships with local luxury retailers, improving operational productivity and delivering elegant, timeless and memorable guest experiences.  

Puereschitz brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him to his new role at The Driskill, following more than 25 years leading teams across the globe at iconic Hyatt hotels including Park Hyatt New York and Park Hyatt Chicago. He launched his hospitality career in Vienna, Austria, and most recently served as director of operations at Hyatt Regency Dallas.

Puereschitz has been recognized for his extensive knowledge of luxury hotel operations as well as enhancing customer service, and he played a vital role in several hotel openings and overseeing renovations. Puereschitz is also passionate about his work outside of the hotel with charitable organizations including Ronald McDonald House, Central Park Conservancy and Citymeals on Wheels.
