PGA of America is moving its headquarters from Palm Beach County, Florida, to Frisco, where it will anchor a 600-acre, mixed-use development with an initial investment worth more than a half-billion. The move is one that will further cement Frisco’s positioning as a sports, events and meetings mecca.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation will join Marriott International, Hilton Hotels & Resorts and InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in cutting independent meeting planner commissions from its current 10 percent rate to 7 percent. Jack Horne, global head of sales and revenue for the hotel chain, revealed the news in a letter sent to meeting and event planners who have done business with Hyatt on Thursday, November 15, 2018.

Lodging Hospitality Management (LHM) purchased the 299-room Marriott St. Louis West, adding to the company’s portfolio of 18 hotels in the St. Louis metropolitan area. LHM Chairman and CEO, Bob O’Loughlin, said the company will invest up to $10 million for upgrades over the next two years.

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort is planning an expansion, including new features and amenities catering to meetings and groups. The project is slated to break ground early fall 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2020. The new structure, which is described as a tower, will be located next to the Swan Resort on the current site of the tennis courts.

Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort celebrated the grand opening of its new convention center expansion and guest room renovation. The convention center expansion of 28,000 square feet will offer nearly 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space at this Walt Disney World Resort location.
