Integrating a piece of history into a meeting starts with its location. From coast to coast, the U.S. offers a bevy of storied properties. Following are just a handful of options, some recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as part of its Historic Hotels of America, which are selected for maintaining their “historic integrity, architecture and ambiance,” while others have their own stories to tell.

There is no shortage of unique off-site venues throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including a host of new options for groups.

Anticipation is high in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area as the city’s Moscone Center introduces its long-awaited $551 million expansion, with the official debut on January 3, 2019. According to Joe D’Alessandro, president and CEO of the San Francisco Travel Association, 2019 is the city’s busiest year in history in terms of group bookings at Moscone Center.

As the new year approaches, so does a new beginning for San Francisco’s meetings business. The long-awaited opening of an upgraded Moscone Center came in early January, as the convention complex debuted a $551 million expansion.

Following the discovery and public announcement of a massive data breach at Marriott's Starwood-branded hotels that compromised sensitive personal information, including some passport numbers, of hundreds of millions of guests, Marriott International announced the company will pay for passport replacements if it finds customers have been victims of fraud, according to The Washington Post.

Hong Kong is on the move, literally and figuratively. The Asian business hub just took the wraps off two major projects that are enhancing connectivity: the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail, 16 miles of railway linking Hong Kong to China’s high-speed rail network. The projects put Hong Kong within convenient reach of cities in the Pearl River Delta (aka Greater Bay Area) and beyond, and with the bridge in place, travel time between the Mainland city of Zhuhai and Hong Kong is cut down drastically.

In an era of mergers and endless merger rumors, with Marriott International and Starwood Hotels & Resorts perhaps at its peak, one possibility reported by the New York Post includes the two top names in Las Vegas and Atlantic City—Caesars Entertainment Corp. and MGM Resorts International.
