PCMA Names Bruce MacMillan to Executive Leadership Team

Former MPI CEO Bruce MacMillan has been named PCMA’s chief marketing officer, effective September 2, 2019. The organization also announced Michelle Crowley as its first chief growth and innovation officer, effective immediately.

Events Industry Council Names New Leader

The Events Industry Council (EIC), the umbrella group representing more than 30 meetings and events industry organizations, appointed a new CEO. Amy Calvert, who currently works as senior vice president of convention sales and services for Visit Baltimore, was announced as the EIC’s new leader. Calvert replaces Karen Kotowski, who resigned from the EIC in January 2019 after 10 years leading the organization.

MPI Launches First-Ever Women’s Advisory Board

Two industry changemakers, Sarah Soliman Daudin and Courtney Stanley, have been appointed to co-chair Meeting Professionals International's (MPI's) 2019 Women’s Advisory Board, the first of its kind for the organization.

GCB Director Matthias Schultze Receives JMIC Award

Matthias Schultze, managing director of the German Convention Bureau, was named the recipient of the Joint Meetings Industry Council’s 2018 JMIC Profile and Power Award. The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing the meetings industry forward.

ASAE Offers XDP for Free

ASAE’s Annual Meeting & Exposition, held August 18-21 at Chicago’s McCormick Convention Center, set an attendance record for the association of associations as well as featured the unveiling of a bold pricing strategy for its experimental XDP event held in the Washington, D.C., area each April. Perhaps the biggest news item was the radical “pricing strategy” of offering free admission for association professionals to ASAE’s XDP, or Xperience Design Project, held April 11-12 next year at the Washington, D.C., area’s Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center.
